On Wednesday, May 16th, 2024, a change will happen to how 3rd party tools integrate with the D2L Gradebook.

Summary of the change:

• Graded items from 3rd party tools will  import into the D2L Gradebook as "included" by default.
• This affects tools such as Cengage, Pearson, Macmillan, McGraw Hill, VoiceThread, Kaltura MediaSpace Quizzes, or other 3rd party tools.
• For most instructors, this change is actually a return to the previous workflow that was disrupted by the roll-out of D2L-integration updates over the past 18 months.
• This change was recommended by the Normandale Technology Committee, the Normandale Campus Academic Technology Team, and through a faculty survey conducted by the Center for Teaching & Learning.

How should I prepare for this change?

• If you use 3rd party tools in D2L, and you plan to Copy or Export your course, we recommend that you wait until after May 16, 2024. That way, this change will affect your new course.

Why is this change needed?

• Currently, graded items from the D2L integrations listed above are imported into D2L as "Excluded from the Final Grade Calculation."
• For most instructors, this is an extra workflow to uncheck the "Excluded" option in a single grade item.
• The screen shot below of a D2L "Manage Grades" page shows an "exclamation point" icon, which indicates that a grade item is excluded.
• This icon will not appear after May 16th, which means the grade item is included.
