Upgrading your device to Windows 11

Faculty and staff can upgrade their laptop or desktop to Windows 11 using Software Center. 

  1. Click on the Start button Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Type Software Center
     
  3. Click on the Software Center iconUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. On the left side of the Software Center window, you'll find several options. Click on Updates.  Under Updates, you will see a list of updates available for installation. You should see Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-02B listed as Available. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. If you do not see the update listed as available, it could mean that your device does not support Windows 11.  Please submit a ticket to IT Service Desk.  You may submit a request from the Software Center.  Click on IT Services Portal tab and then click on Tech Support RequestUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. To install the update, click on Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-02B and click Install.  Your device will proceed to download and install the update.  You may continue to use the device while the update is downloaded and installed. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  1. Following installation, you will be prompted to restart your device.  As with regular updates, you will be given 24 hours to restart your device after which the device will force a reboot. 
  2. Your device may reboot multiple times during OS upgrade.  Depending on your device and the software installed on the device, the process may take up to two hours.  If the device runs into any issues applying the update, the changes will be rolled back. 

Should your device run into  issues, please submit a Tech Support Request.
