Clear Microsoft Teams Contact Card Cache

When someone's Teams contact card information is updated, it sometimes takes up to 48 hours to fully propagate. Contact Card information includes things like titles and office numbers. If you see old Contact Card information in Teams after 48 hours, you should clear your Teams Contact Card Cache.

First, make sure that the incorrect information has been updated. Supervisors can updated titles, office number, etc as follows: Update Contact Card Information

If you know it's been updated, it's time to clear the cache. To clear the Teams Contact Card cache in Windows:

  1. Quit Microsoft Teams
    1. Right-click on the Teams icon in your Taskbar
    2. Click on Quit

       
  2. Open Windows Explorer
     
  3. Copy and paste the link below into the address bar:

    %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams\IndexedDB
     
  4. Delete the folders you see here

     
  5. Open Teams
    The Contact Card information will now be updated.

 

Error Message: Folder In Use

  1. If you receive the error message below, please make sure you Quit Teams. Teams may continue running in the background if you Close the Window.
