How to Check if Always On VPN is connected

In order to make sure you are connected to Always on VPN (AOVPN), please check the following:
Note: AOVPN will not connect on campus. This is normal and expected.

In the Notification Area, click on the WiFi Icon to bring up a list of available connections.

In the list of available connections, you should see Normandale AOVPN User Tunnel with a Connected status.

Additionally, if you open Network & Internet Settings and select VPN from the Network & Internet Menu, status here should reflect previous screen.

If your computer is still not connecting to AOVPN, we will need you to reboot your router/modem and your computer.

Please do the following action steps below to resolve this issue:

1. Unplug power cord to both router and modem
2. Wait at least 30 seconds
3. Plug the modem back in
4. Wait at least 60 seconds
5. Plug the router back in
6. Wait at least 2 minutes
7. Restart your computer, and be sure to choose "Update and Restart" (if present) to run any updates that need to be installed on your computer

After completing the steps above, confirm your wifi is connected, your AOVPN is Connected, then log into your computer, wait about 2-3 minutes for the background processes and services to completely, then visit the Normandale homepage (your Outlook email, other applications, resources, etc.) to confirm that you are able to access Normandale systems.

If you still do not have AOVPN, please let us know as soon as possible. We want to make sure that you are connected to campus resources and are receiving updates on your computer.

Note: Mac users have a separate VPN that will be coming in the future.
