Financial Aid dependency status

For financial aid purposes, a student is considered dependent if they are under 24 years of age, are not married, do not have children of their own that they support 50% or more, are not on active duty or a veteran of the military.  Living on your own and paying your own bills is not enough to make you an independent student.  Dependent students must include parent information on their FAFSA application. Students who do not meet the criteria for independent status listed above but are unable to provide parent information on the FAFSA should contact Student Services to ask about a Dependency Override.

If you have additional questions, please contact Student Services via live chat or email.
